The visit of the President of the Asian Association of Public Service, Professor of "Yonsei" University, Pan Suk Kim
On 20th of January 2017 with the visit of the President of the Asian Association of Public Service, Professor of "Yonsei" University, Pan Suk Kim, there was a conference held in a style of round table with the participation of Kazakhstani scientists, experts and members of KFMD (Kazakhstan Foundation for Management Development). The Chairman of the Steering Committee of Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana, Baymenov A.M., moderated the round table very well. The conference was organized in cooperation with Almaty Management University, KFMD and the UN Regional Hub for the civil service in Astana.
Then there was an open meeting of the Academic Council, where the professor was submitted to the award of a diploma and was awarded the title of honorary professor of AlmaU for his enormous contribution to the development of institutions of civil service at the global level. Later, Professor Pan Suk Kim held discussion in the format of Public Talk with the topic: «Governance Discourse: Good Governance, Good Enough Governance and Appropriate Governance» for the staff, PTS and faculties of Almaty Management University. Well-known Kazakhstani political analyst and head of the Laboratory of Regional Development in AlmaU, Kaukenov A.S., modeled this event. Professor Pan Suk Kim was the first time in Almaty. He fell in love with our city and called it “the center of culture and history of the country”. He fell in love not only with the city but also with our Almaty Management University and said that this is a new model university, where harmoniously combined process of comprehension of knowledge, creativity and innovation.
Professor Pan Suk Kim mentioned that President of AlmaU, Kozhahmetov A.B. and Rector of AlmaU, Kanagatova A.M. (And the other members of the top administration) are excellent managers, who can share their tremendous management experience not only to educators, but also to the public service. It is a great pleasure to work in this advanced and innovative institution! In addition, the significant contribution of staff of the School of Public Policy and Law should be also mentioned! All in all, we’ve done a great job!
